about me
Infrastructure and Security Engineer based in Leeds, UK.
I'm Luke Rawnsley - I secure a 1,500-endpoint, 80+-site Azure/hybrid estate day-to-day: SIEM monitoring and alert triage, Microsoft Purview (DLP, Sensitivity Labelling, Insider Risk), Intune, Conditional Access, and the vulnerability management cycle from weekly scans through monthly penetration tests.
I've progressed from IT Technician to Infrastructure & Security Engineer in under three years at the same organisation, picking up Security+, MS-102, MD-102 and CompTIA A+ on the way. Current roadmap: AZ-104 (booked), then AZ-140 and SC-200.
Career direction: defence and aerospace security engineering. I'm eligible for UK Security Clearance (SC) and actively tailoring for SC-required roles. The infrastructure fundamentals are there - multi-site networking, firewalls, Hyper-V, disaster recovery - and the security specialism is deepening every month.
Outside the day job I build: Certeli (certification exam prep, 30K+ questions), CV Human (AI CV builder), and a production VPS estate running Next.js, PostgreSQL, CI/CD and nginx. Building platforms is how I learn - breaking and securing them is how I remember.
On the infrastructure side: Azure (VMs, Automation, Blob, Conditional Access), Hyper-V, Intune, Entra ID, Defender, Purview, SentinelOne, Zabbix. On the dev side: Next.js, FastAPI, PostgreSQL, GitHub Actions, Cloudflare, nginx, PM2.
Outside of work I'm into CrossFit, good design, and building things that last.
